Emailing the Birth Mother

Our CASA gave us birth mom's email address and we've started to dialogue with her.

Here is a message we sent to her...

We've been calling _________ "_____" for a while now and we will soon change his name officially. He's sweet. He remembers everyone's name. He loves being outside and throwing balls. "Ball" was his first word!
After the adoption is finalized, the social workers will not be involved and it will be our decision as his adoptive parents if you get to see him and how often. We want you to know that _____ is incredibly important to us and we are very protective of him. If we plan a visit, it is our FAMILY you are interacting with, the 3 of us come as a package.
So, what can you tell us about yourself? What's your favorite movie? Book? TV show? Where did you grow up? What kinds of food do you like? Looking forward to hearing from you. I've attached some photos. He is such a beautiful boy!

Hi I think _____ is a very sweet name. I find it funny because my best friends sons name is also _____ and
they were born both at the same month and year they are the same age!
I respect that you our protective of _____ he deserves a family that loves him!
You guys certainly do come as a package and you our the family he greatly deserves I only hoped I could be a part of your package I don't know what _____ would know me as or call me... Your the only mom he knows. Maybe I can be momma number 2.. lol but I have no idea ... I understand that we need to take this slow. You want to keep _____ safe and you don't know me all that well, maybe once you get to know me you will find that i'm as harmless as a fly.. you are blessed with a beautiful son and I know he will do great things with your guidance...
ok what can I say about me hmm.. well I love comedy and horror flix. my favorite book is called beastly.. I grew up right here in _________. I was a only child and my mother raised me.. my favorite foods.. are you kidding? all food are my favorite haha! how about you tell me about the both of you..
hope he gets lots of cuddles and loves... give him a hug for me !!!

You are a very sweet person and we know you wouldn't hurt a fly!
We want you to know that we respect you very much. Without you there would be no _____ and being _____'s parents is the greatest thing we've ever done.
We are so thankful for you and we pray for you every night. That God would keep you safe and that you would know how much you are loved and that you would have a peace about your son.
He is VERY LOVED by us and by our family.
We both come from big families so _____ has lots of aunts, uncles and cousins.
We like comedy movies, too. ______'s favorite movie is Elf, the Christmas movie with Will Ferrell. He loves all kinds of food, too. He is not a picky eater at all!
We give him lots of kisses and snuggles.
So, we think that after several months of emailing we could plan a visit. I'm not sure yet what he'll call you but maybe we can start with your name ... Does that sound good?

So, I guess we may have an open adoption afterall.  We are looking forward to developing this relationship and hoping that our boy will one day know where he came from.
