We did it. They did it. Somehow, by the grace of God, the adoption was processed at lightening speed. We went into a courtroom and claimed our son: 4 weeks after he was made legally free, 9 months after our adoption home study, 15 months after he had last seen his birth father, 18 months after he had last seen his birth mother and 2 years after bringing him home.
