We went to court yesterday for a "permanency planning review hearing" - which means the judge got to decide what your permanent plan was.
Your biological father was there, to my surprise. No one has heard from him in about a month. He was coming to see you every week but all of a sudden he seemed to have disappeared. We got a great report; he and your biological mother did not. Your father surprised us all when he came forward with a list of people - not blood related - who want to try and adopt you. This was terrifying for me. However, since they are not blood relatives, they were all disqualified.
The judge is going to dual-track your case. Which means the future plan is still to reconcile with a parent -or - for us to adopt you. They still want to allow your parents some more time to complete their tasks.
Your father asked for visitation rights. These are difficult for me because they throw off our whole family's schedule, trying to get you there and you get so restless in a small room for 2 hours. But, visitations with you are some of your parents' only rights in this process so I remind myself of that.
You are so much a part of our family that I cannot bear the thought of letting you go. You look at dadda and I like a boy in love! And we are smitten with you! Your birth father loves you, kiddo. And so does your mother. And now there's a list of strangers you've never met, and may never know, who want you in their lives. You are a very loved boy.
We are so fortunate God gave us you.
Love,
Mama
P.S. It's election day! Tomorrow we find out who will be our 44th or 45th president!
